The Oscars
Wow, I've been gone a long time, but now I'm back. I've had access to a computer over the last week or so, but because it wasn't my own, I didn't really feel like posting anything. It would have felt forced.
So yes, The Oscars.
I think Chris Rock did a pretty mediocre job of hosting. He had a few good jokes, but most of what he brought to the table was the same tired, racist material we always see from him. At least he didn't once use the word "cracker." I think a line he should have added to his monologue bit about "waiting" should have been, "If you can't get Billy Crystal to host the show.....wait."
And come to think of it, why is it still acceptable for Rock to continue this racial inequality routine of his? Haven't the past few years at the Oscars dispelled any bias against black people? Not too long ago we saw Whoopi Goldberg host the show; and last year we all got to wince at Halle Berry's overly dramatic acceptence speech for best actress. Maybe it's just me, but I think she should have held back on her teary comments about "opening the door for black people," since she doesn't look the least bit African.
This year's ceremony also included numerous nominations for Hotel Rwanda (Including a Best Actor nod for Don Cheedle), and saw statues go to Morgan Freeman for Million Dollar Baby and Jamie Foxx for Ray. Gee, what a biased bunch the Academy are, huh? I mean, they only let Beyonce perform three songs! Cracker-assed crackers!

Remember the laws that promote incompetent francophones over qualified anglophones for government jobs? They are in full effect. Our racialist friends will tell us how good it is to hire the incompetent, it raises the spirits of the lower class.
Black people oppress themselves, my own yadda, yadda. When does some sense of personal accountability begin to assert itself? How long do blacks get to blame their problems on things that happened 150 years ago?
Oh that's right - forever. Don't you get it? Blacks ENJOY their distinct status. The last thing they want is to be treated equally, because that would make them too much like white people! They make fun of their own when they actually make something of themselves in life - they call each other "Uncle Toms" if that happens! They do everything in their power to maintain the illusion of oppression, when in reality it's up to them to do something about it, just like any other race. Hey, the Japanese were kept in concentration camps in North America as recently as 50 years ago - they've done pretty fucking good for themselves, don't you think? One Chinese guy died for every mile of railroad in the U.S., and they are going to be the biggest economic force in the world this century. Weren't they oppressed too?
The problems of blacks are baggage, carried by their own choice close to their hearts and dearly beloved. They can choose to drop them anytime they wish, because they are as affected as urban gangsta culture. Dress, talk, and act like a criminal, and expect to be treated like one.
My Irish Catholic ancestors came here in the rotting belly of a boat, and experienced plenty of oppression along the way as well, so you can't call me a WASP, either.
Fuck special status, fuck media-sensationalized oppression, and fuck you, you silly left-wing hippie.

Uh...Yeah!
Man, your blog is a letdown now. You've let it die. What are you doing, are you out on a bender?

Happy St. Patrick's Day, McHackenpuke. That's an Irish Catholic last name, isn't it?
