Guys...it's my very sad duty to report that Wino is dead.
See, he's a relative of mine...and he's been hitting the bottle pretty hard lately. He hasn't had a job in over a year, and it was getting him down. He was using the blog as kind of a therapy thing, but as you can tell from the entries, it's been a while since he's been able to even post an entry.
The last time I saw him, I lent him my ABBA greatest hits collection. "Maybe this will cheer you up," I said. "Thanks, man," he said. That night, he gave me his vintage copy of "Tarzan of the Apes" to read - I was surprised. I should have caught on that something was up, but I was just so glad to see the book finally taken out of the ziplock bag he kept it in. He said, "don't worry about giving back anytime soon...I'm sure you'll take good care of it."
Two nights ago, after a night of doing tequila shooters at a local gin-joint, Wino got behind the wheel of his Chevette and drove into an overpass at 80 mph. Police and rescue workers told our family that there wasn't much left. The blood sample they took to test his alcohol level was drawn from a dismembered thigh found 60 yards away from the crash site. Needless to say, it will be a closed casket. The funeral is tomorrow.
